Philip Catterall's Walking Journey

A Family member explained "It all started about four or five years ago, when on his holidays he would travel to various places around England, Scotland and Wales and walk around the town or city that he was travelling to, exploring the beautiful sites and taking photos to keep a record of where he had been, but I never thought it would come to this".

A friend recalls a personal experience that was shared with him. "I remember a time when he told me he had travelled around Scotland by train, he went to Edinburgh and from Edinburgh to Oban via Glasgow and then back again, then up to Inverness and from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh, where he walked over the Skye Bridge to the Isle of Skye and back again before returning to Inverness and Edinburgh. Even then he wouldn't give up and got the train down to Berwick-upon-Tweed before returning back to Edinburgh, then finishing up at Falkirk and walking from Falkirk High Station to the Falkirk Wheel (although he was on the wrong side of the canal and it was dark, so he didn't get a good view of it). He did a lot of walking during this week, but this didn't deter him however because later he actually walked from Edinburgh to Falkirk. I suppose I should have known then what he was capable of"
