Sunday Club 17th March 2019
Theme: Show your love by your actions – Mothering Sunday (adapted from Sermon4kids)
Audrey explained that our lesson today is related to Mothers Day/Mothering Sunday as there will not be a Sunday Club on the 31st March.
She asked “Can anyone guess who this is in the picture?” It is Christines Mum. Mine and Christines Mum are in heaven with Jesus now, but we still think of them every day. We loved our Mums very much and know that they liked to hear us say that to them. I bet your Mums like you to tell her that you love her. Of course she does! But do you know what your Mum likes even more? She likes you to show her that you love her.
How can you show your Mum that you love her? I have a list of ten things. Tell me know what your top ten things would be. Tyler said quite a few from the list below.
Examples:
- Make your bed
- Pick up your clothes
- Keep your room tidy
- Take out the rubbish
- Look after your pet
- Set the table
- Wash the pots or stack the dishwasher
- Don’t fight with your brothers/sisters
- Give her a gift that you’ve made yourself
- Obey her when she asks you to do something
So remember, your Mum likes to hear you say, “I love you,” but she likes it even more when you show her that you love her.
Do you love Jesus? I’m sure you do. Do you think Jesus likes to hear you say, “ I love you?” I know he does and like your Mum he likes it even better when you show Him that you love Him.
Jesus tells us in the Bible that “if anyone loves me, he will obey my teachings. The Bible is full of things that Jesus taught us; many we have spoken about in Sunday Club. You can show you love Jesus by following what he teaches.
When you leave Sunday Club today don’t forget to tell your Mum that you love her and as we worship today, tell Jesus that you love Him and will show Him throughout your lives that you do.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we have come to your house today to say, “I Love you, “Help us to go out of here today and show you that we love you by following your teachings. Amen
